The newest boy group in the country, 3AM, gives pop-alternative sound a different thud as Mica Caldito, James Torres and Kyle Amor gear up for their debut album under Star Records.

The boys, who are the best of friends in real life, first appeared on ABS-CBN’s Music Uplate Live, the network’s late night musical-interactive show, paved the way to their popularity. They were originally ‘nameless’ when they first appeared on the “Break Mo ‘To” segment on the said late-night show. Through a poll started by the Music Uplate Live hosts namely Yeng Constantino, Tutti Caringal and Gee Canlas, the group earned the tag, “3AM” (CLICK HERE FOR RELATED ARTICLE).
The boys, who are managed by Cornerstone Talent Management Center, instantly became a sensation among their market and have captured a strong following in Youtube and forums. In fact, in less than a month after their initial appearance, 3AM had its fans day and was asked to return to the said show to grant an outpour of requests. Moreover, the boys have already played front act on several tours and gigs of Piolo Pascual and Yeng Constantino.
Kyle has graced a number of print and television commercials. James and Mica, on the other hand, have played as a duo in different schools in Metro Manila where they have received an overwhelming reception from the students. Also, Kyle, James and Mica were part of the defunct series, “Idol,” as Da Vince Code, Sam Milby’s band in the story. Aside from their good looks and undeniable talent as musicians, no doubt, these three will go far.
The boys are now regulars of the newest teen variety show on ABS-CBN, ‘Shout Out’ and they are part of the Tuesdelicious group. Soon, Kyle, James and Mica will be seen and heard in the upcoming movie of Maja Salvador and Mateo Guidicelli entitled “Basted.”
‘3AM’ the album is packed with a distinct acoustic sound. Four original tracks composed by Mica and one cover song are included in the audio CD: “Come Around,” “Mapapansin Mo Ba,” “Hindi Mo Lang Alam,” “When I Gave It Up Too Soon,” and their version of Justin Bieber’s “Baby”. Watch out for their first and carrier single “Hindi Mo Lang Alam” as it conquers the airwaves, and also their first ever music video made by Director Raffy Francisco which will be seen on the top music channels.
Hear a different kind of music as 3AM puts the acoustic sound to a higher notch via their first album under Star Records. Now available in record bars nationwide. Watch out as 3AM invades the malls and campuses. They are also part of Sam Milby and Yeng Constantino‘s Nationwide Rockoustic Tour. GMA’s rising star–Solenn Heusaff–is now a recording artist aside from being an actress and a model.

After being one of the castaways of the Kapuso network’s Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown where she is one of the final three, a lot of opportunities came to fashion designer and make-up artist Solenn Heusaff.
She signed a recording contract with MCA Universal Philippines, a movie contract with Regal Entertainment, and a television contract with GMA Network and GMA Artist Center.
The Half-French Half-Pinay is about to star in her first movie–”My Valentine Girls”–as one of Richard Gutierrez‘s leading ladies. She is also set to record 3 albums for MCA Universal in a span of 3 years. Not to mention her upcoming projects on GMA-7.
Since Solenn is becoming popular, intrigues will not be left behind. A French TV Network recently tagged her, together with Anne Curtis and Ruffa Gutierrez, as “Bimbos.” The report came from the French Channel M6 titled “Stories of Gangsters, Drug Lords and Bimbos”.
According to the dictionary, a Bimbo describes a woman who is physically attractive but is perceived to have a low intelligence, poor education or sexually promiscuous.
Solenn, being half-French, reacted to the said report:
“I was very offended since my dad and I had helped them organize their documentary here as well as provide for their transportation. They wanted to film several sides of the Philippines and they just totally exaggerated the differences between the poor and more fortunate.”
“They made my friends and I sound like total spoiled brats and uneducated and made us look like we don’t work and all we do is live the lifestyle. All my friends are very well educated, respected, self-accomplished, down-to-earth and successful women,” she added.
With her blossoming career, intrigues included, Solenn is definitely one of the breakthrough stars of 2011!

What is it about Katy Perry‘s songs that they sound better when sung by a man?

After the hit Darren Criss cover of “Teenage Dream” on Glee, the best-selling Glee track on iTunes ever, Boyce Avenue featuring David Choi rendered another cool male version of a Katy Perry song. It’s the inspirational hit–”Firework”–and it made me go oh oh oh!
Boyce Avenue is a Puerto Rican band composed of acoustic-singing brothers Alejandro, Fabian and Daniel Manzano. David Choi, on the other hand, is a Korean-American who is also a YouTube sensation.
Firework Lyrics:
Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?
Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there’s still a chance for you
‘Cause there’s a spark in you?
You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July
‘Cause baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ‘em what you’re worth
Make ‘em go, oh oh oh
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ‘em go, oh
You’re gonna leave ‘em falling down
You don’t have to feel like a waste of space
You’re original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow
Maybe you’re reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it’s time, you’ll know
You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July
‘Cause baby you’re a firework
Come on, show ‘em what you’re worth
Make ‘em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ‘em go, oh
You’re gonna leave ‘em falling down
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It’s always been inside of you, you, you
And now it’s time to let it through
‘Cause baby you’re a firework
Come on, show ‘em what you’re worth
Make ‘em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ‘em go, oh
You’re gonna leave ‘em falling down
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

Kristen Bell (“When in Rome”) plays star dancer Nikki, whose attitude and self-destructiveness turn the backstage into drama-filled turmoil, in Columbia Pictures’ dazzling musical, “Burlesque.”

“I don’t think you can ever come into a part that is seemingly the antagonist and, as the actor, believe that they’re bad,” Bell says of her character. “You have to look for the reasons why Nikki thinks what she’s doing is right. She’s just more entitled than everyone else. She’s had it easy, she’s also worked very hard to get where she is, and she’s going to defend her territory. Nikki doesn’t think she’s bitchy. She thinks she’s trying to cope with everyone around her.”
Much of Nikki’s protectiveness and insecurity is wrapped up in her relationship with Tess (Cher), the owner of the Burlesque Lounge. Bell explains: “Nikki admires Tess so much. Tess is this beautiful, gorgeous, talented woman who owns this club and who gave Nikki her start. She allowed Nikki to dance, and they have been friends for a long, long time. When Ali (Christina Aguilera) weasels her way into the relationship and Nikki’s no longer the favorite, it really makes her angry.”
Playing bad has its charms, especially for someone who typically finds herself playing good. “It’s fun to play the mean girl,” Bell says. “There are fewer rules. You can do what you want because bad people don’t have much of a conscience.”
In a confrontation between Nikki and Tess, Bell had to dive right into one of her most dramatic scenes mere moments after meeting Cher. “Shooting the parking lot scene was kind of bizarre because I hadn’t known Cher at that point,” Bell recalls. “We both knew this was a pivotal point in our relationship, so it had to be good and it had to be real. We sat down and talked first and we said, ‘Obviously we’re best friends. We’ve had a million movie nights where I’ve burnt the popcorn and you’ve made gin and tonics and we’ve painted each other’s nails and you’re my idol and I’m your protégé and this has been going on for years and this is how it works and tonight’s the night of our break-up.’”
Despite the level of fame Cher and Aguilera brought to the production, Bell found her work environment to be exceptionally supportive. “They’re both so down-to-earth, which I hate to say is surprising, but it was,” Bell recalls. “You don’t know what kind of personality someone’s going to have when they’re that iconic, but they’re both lovely and so much fun to work with and so blunt and easy to be around. It’s become like a really nice family, kind of like these girls actually have at this burlesque club.”
Bell held her own with Aguilera and the team of seasoned dancers. “They danced with Michael Jackson and they dance with Beyoncé. These girls are the best of the best. You would think that it might be a giant catfight with this many women, but it’s not. It’s such a supportive environment. I’m very much trying to keep up with them in the dance department. I can pull one aside and say, ‘Can you show me that step again?’ They’re ready and willing to make it the best it can be,” Bell says.
Opening across the Philippines on Feb. 2, “Burlesque” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.
