Aiza Seguerra Sings ‘Songs from the Vault’

Fall in love, reminisce, and sing along with Asian Acoustic Sensation Aiza Seguerra in her recently released album under Star Records titled, “Songs from the Vault.”



Seguerra shared that her 13-track album is a compilation of her favorite songs, including her compositions “Tanging Ikaw,” “Wala Ka Na,” and “Sana Di Lang Puro Sana.”


“Personal experiences of love, hate, hurt, pain, and deadlines inspire me to write. The best part about the process is when you finally got the groove and when the lines you want flows out naturally,” she said.


Completing the tracklist are revivals of hits for the hopeless romantics: “Walang Sayang,” “Persistent Rain,” “Sa’yo Lamang,” “Sukob Na,” “Miss You Like Crazy,” “When You Wish Upon a Star,” “Someone’s Waiting for You,” “Runaway,” “My Heart Will Go On,” and “Mahagkan Kang Muli” composed by Nyoy Volante.


Seguerra’s career has blossomed remarkably as a recording artist under Star Records with two albums released all over Asia, one live album, and two gold and one platinum award.

Sarah Lahbati Goes To Geneva Switzerland For a Concert

KOKAK star, Sarah Lahbati is busy taping advance episodes for her daytime soap opera because she’s on her way to hometown Geneva Switzerland for a concert with Enzo Pineda and Derrick Monasterio. Sarah is very excited to go back there coz she used to sing in the choir when she was little. Plus her father still lives there while she and her Mom are obviously in the Philippines so she could pursue her career.





SARAH LAHBATI is advancing some episodes for her hit afternoon show, “Kokak”, as she’s leaving next month to do a concert in Geneva, Switzerland, where she used to live with her parents. Now, only her dad stays there because of his work while Sarah is here in Manila with her mom to pursue her career in showbiz.

“Yung mga tao sa Geneva ang nag-request na mag-show ako roon,” she says. “They said it’ll be a homecoming concert for me as I used to sing in the choir there. Excited na rin akong makita uli lahat ng friends ko doon. They watch ‘Kokak’ through the internet.”


Her special guests in her show are two guys both previously linked to her, Starstruck V batchmate Enzo Pineda and Tween star Derrick Monasterio who are both excited as it’s their first time to visit Switzerland. “Sila ang ni-request ng mga taga-Geneva para makasama kong mag-perform doon and I’m glad pumayag naman sila,” says Sarah.

AJ Rafael Kicks Off Red Roses Tour

AJ Rafael kicks off his Red Roses Tour in Southeast Asia produced by Monsoon Productions.



The tour kicks off on January 13 and will be visiting Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. The tour includes the AJ Rafael Band consisting of AJ Rafael, Noah Bartfield, Danny Morledge, Andrew Rhim, and guest artists Krissy and Ericka Villongco from the Philippines. The second leg of the tour, produced by Nojon Entertainment happens in Australia visiting Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.


AJ Rafael, is a 22-year old music artist from Moreno Valley, California. AJ has garnered a worldwide audience with his original music, videos on YouTube.com, and live performances in the US, Canada, Australia, Europe and the Philippines. With over 350,000 subscribers on YouTube, 200,000 fans on Facebook, and 90,000 followers on Twitter, AJ Rafael’s fan base grows steadily worldwide. The Red Roses tour hopes to reach AJ Rafael’s fan base demand in Southeast Asia and return to one of his second homes, Australia. AJ was also included in the short-list of the Grammys last year for its non-traditional/on-line category.


It should be noted that one of AJ’s major musical influences is Gary Valenciano whom he recently performed with live on ASAP 2012 when he was formally introduced to the mainstream Filipino music-loving market. AJ also took notice of Gabriel Valenciano’s and Kiana Valenciano’s cover version of Chris Brown’s “Yeah Yeah Yeah.” AJ saw their performance on YouTube and liked it and corresponded with Kiana via Twitter. Today, AJ finished collaborating with Kiana as they recorded a song with Gab as the producer.


Alongside the tour and through a partnership with PhilDev, AJ has adopted the CRIBS Foundation, a welfare institution committed to the care and recovery of abandoned and abused children in the Philippines. Proceeds from red roses at the Manila concert will go to CRIBS. AJ, during his trip is exploring additional ways to give back to the Philippines. AJ and his team are in discussions with the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation on how to partner for future advocacy and campaigns.

Romi Garduce Completes Historic Seven Summits Quest

The Philippines finally puts on record a historic feat in the elite adventure sport of mountaineering.



This after renowned Filipino mountain climber Romi Garduce officially set foot atop Mt. Vinson Massif in the Antarctic Region on January 5 at 6:45pm, Antarctica time (January 6, 5:45am, Philippine time) – officially completing his historic “Seven Summit” quest after long 10 years.


According to a recent blogpost by mountain climbing and trekking guide service Mountain Madness, Romi’s team summitted the 16,067-foot alpine mountain lying in the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains amid a cold -26 degree Celsius weather.


GMA Network, tagged as the “home of Filipino champions,” takes pride that the first Pinoy to ever complete this elite globe-trotting expedition is a homegrown Kapuso. Romi is one of the pioneer hosts of the award-winning wildlife and environmental program Born To Be Wild.


Romi now stands next to Filipino boxing champ Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao with his own world record title.


In all, Romi summitted “eight of the seven highest mountains” in seven continents, conquering all mountains in both Bass and Messner mountaineering lists. These summits include Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa (September 2002); Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina (January 2005); Mt. Everest in Nepal (May 2006); Mt. Elbrus in Russia (August 2007); Mt. McKinley or Denali Peak in North America (June 2008); Mt. Kosciuszko in Australia (December 2008); Mt. Carstensz Pyramid in Indonesia (July 2011), and just recently, Mt. Vinson Massif in Antarctica (January 2012).

Star Records Artists Bag Major Honors in 24th Awit Awards

Some of the brightest talents of Star Records were honored with seven major recognitions in various categories at the recent 24th Awit Awards.




First Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT) grand winner Jovit Baldivino clinched two of the most coveted trophies—‘Best Male Performance by a New Male Recording Artist’ and ‘Best Selling Album of the Year’ for his album, “Faithfully.”


Meanwhile, Juris took home the ‘Album of the Year Award’ with her “Now Playing by Juris” album; while “Sa’yo Lamang” by Jamie Rivera with the Hail Mary the Queen Children’s Choir was hailed ‘Best Inspirational/Religious Recording.’ PGT finalist Ezra band was honored with the ‘Best Performance by a New Group Recording Artists’ award.


Star Records ruled even in the ‘best dance’ and ‘best song for movie’ categories. The “Move” album by Gabriel Valenciano featuring her sister Kiana, was named ‘Best Dance Recording;’ while the song “Kaya Mo!” for “RPG Metanoia” took home the ‘Best Song Written for TV/Movie/Stage Play’ award.


Awit Awards is annualy organized by PARI (The Philippine Association of the Record Industry, Inc.) to honor Filipino performing artists and people behind the making of Filipino recorded music.

Parokya ni Edgar Sweeps the Awit Awards

Pambansang banda Parokya ni Edgar nabbed four top honors from the recently concluded 24th Awit Awards, held at the Music Museum.



Parokya ni Edgar, with the song Pangarap Lang Kita from the album Middle-Aged Juvenile Novelty Pop Rocker, swept the awards for Best Performance by a Group, Best Ballad Recording, Best Collaboration (with Happee Sy), while the track Pakiusap Lang (Lasingin Niyo Ako) won Song of the Year.


Meanwhile, Asian sensation Christian Bautista was named the most downloaded artist because his numerous hits from his Romance Revisited album. Christian, together with Karylle, were also recognized for bringing pride to the country with their successful stint in the Pan-Asian series The Kitchen Musical. Christian and Karylle performed their version of Please Be Careful With My Heart.


Prince of Soul JayR, nominated for his JayR Sings OPM Love Classics album as Album of the year, performed a stirring rendition of Ikaw Lamang, while Zia Quizon sang her debut hit single Ako Na Lang.

Christian Bautista Receives Elusive Diamond Record Award for ‘A Wonderful Christmas’

Asiansation Christian Bautista joins the elite group of awardees of Diamond Record Awards with his A Wonderful Christmas album, which sold more than 200,000 units.



He was formally awarded last December 4 during ASAP Rocks Platinum Circle Awards.


A Wonderful Christmas includes Christian’s heartfelt renditions of Nakaraang Pasko, Gloria, Little Drummer Boy, Christmas Shoes, What A Wonderful World, among others.


“I feel so blessed with this recognition,” says Christian. “I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this possible. I will be eternally grateful.”


Because of this achievement, Christian was also elevated to ASAP’s Elite Platinum Circle, alongside music legends Sharon Cuneta, Freddie Aguilar, Jose Mari Chan, among others.

Nina Releases Much-Awaited New Album ‘Stay Alive’

Asia’s Diamond Soul Siren Nina is undeniably one of the most versatile recording artists of her generation, and this is highlighted in her latest album Stay Alive, produced by Universal Records.



Stay Alive showcases Nina’s distinct musical style as a multi-genre artist, incorporating varieties of strong repertoire. Selections from upbeat tempo to the infusion of house-sound, mix of r&b, club and pop are very noticeable in the whole album.
